A Quarry in johnston, RI...

What looks like an old DEM from the 1950’s, is The Bare (or Bear) Ledge Quarry.  The Quarry is deep in the woods near the interchange of I-295 and State Route44, just outside Graniteville, a small village on the eastern border of Johnston, near the Smithfield line.  Trucks from the 1950‘s, garages and misc. now defunct buildings that look like garages, and/or small offices.  If you look over the edge, you’ll see 295 below.  for some reason, someone now owns the property.  Several small granite quarries once made up an important local business in Johnston. They began by supplying stone for textile mills. Some were still quarrying, cutting, and selling granite into this century.
